CLEARWATER, Fla., July 7, 2026 - APEX Biologix, a leading regenerative medicine device company focused on advancing autologous biologic systems, announced the publication of a peer-reviewed study evaluating the performance of the XCELL Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) System. Published in Bioengineering, the open-access study evaluated the XCELL 60 mL single-spin platform across 70 consecutive clinical samples collected from two independent physician practices, providing objective performance data on platelet recovery, cellular composition and PRP bioformulation flexibility.
The study, Optimized Platelet-Rich Plasma Preparations for a Consistently High Platelet Capture Rate, Bioformulation Flexibility, and Red Blood Cell Reduction Using a Single-Spin Device, contributes to the growing body of scientific literature supporting evidence-based orthobiologic therapies. As regenerative medicine continues to evolve, standardized preparation methods and transparent performance reporting have become increasingly important. The publication provides physicians with independently reviewed performance data on the XCELL PRP System.
Key findings include:
- Average 10.8 billion platelet dose
- Up to 10x platelet concentration
- 83% platelet capture rate
- Ability to produce PRP formulations with varying leukocyte profiles without sacrificing platelet yield
- Single-spin architecture offering reduced processing time, simplified workflow, minimized cellular mechanical trauma, and reduced contamination risk through fewer transfer steps
"This publication represents an important milestone for APEX Biologix and reinforces our commitment to advancing regenerative medicine through both innovation and scientific validation," said Jim Rogers, Chief Executive Officer of APEX Biologix. "As physicians increasingly seek evidence-based technologies, we believe independently conducted research plays an essential role in supporting informed clinical decision-making."
"One of the most valuable aspects of this study is that it demonstrates consistent system performance while highlighting the ability to customize PRP formulations based on physician preference," said Dr. Ariana DeMers, Chief Medical Education Officer at APEX Biologix and co-author of the study. "As the field continues to mature, standardized reporting and reproducible preparation methods will become increasingly important."
